In any welding or cutting cell, hot metal spatter rains down on everything nearby. An untreated jacket burns and pits on contact, exposing the conductor. Crosslinked jackets resist that molten spatter, so a stray spark bounces off instead of eating through to the copper.

How It Works
What the beam actually changes
Because the crosslinked jacket will not melt or flow, molten spatter cannot fuse into or burn through the surface the way it does with a thermoplastic. The material stays intact where the spark lands, protecting the conductor underneath.
